Description
Flanders Poppy Seeds
Flanders poppy is also known as the corn poppy, and it’s the same variety as remembrance poppies. It was made famous in the poem “In Flanders Fields.” Corn poppy seeds have a delicious nutty flavour and are often used in bread, bagels, and desserts.
How to Grow Flanders Poppy
Poppies do not like their roots disturbed, so it is best to sow the seeds directly. The best time for sowing the seeds is in early spring when mild frost is still possible. You can also sow the corn poppy seeds in the fall just before the ground freezes.
Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep and 7 inches apart. Poppies do not tolerate too much fertilizer. Germination may take anywhere between 2 to 3 weeks.
