Flanders Poppy Seeds
The corn poppy is the same variety as remembrance poppies. It was made famous in the poem “In Flanders Fields”. Corn poppy seeds have a delicious nutty flavour, and are often used on breads, bagels, and desserts.
How to Grow Flanders Poppy
Poppies do not like their roots disturbed, so it is best to sow the seeds directly. The best time for sowing the seeds is in early spring when mild frost is still possible. You can also sow the seeds in the fall just before the ground freezes.
Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep and 7 inches apart. Does not tolerate too much fertilizer.
Germination may take anywhere between 2 to 3 weeks.
