Spaghetti Squash Seeds

Spaghetti squash is a delicious alternative to wheat pasta. As the name implies, the flesh resembles “spaghetti.” It goes great with pasta sauce, cheese or butter. The melons keep for up to 2 months. Spaghetti squash matures in 90-100 days.

How to Grow Spaghetti Squash

Spaghetti Squash seeds can be started outdoors after the last risk of frost has passed. Keep in mind the optimal germination temperature for squash is between 20-30 degrees C. Choose a sunny location with rich, fertile and well-draining soil. When preparing the garden bed, use ample amounts of compost and or composted manure; squash is a heavy feeder. The ideal pH for squash is in the range of 5.5 to 6.8.

Sow the seeds 1″ deep, and space them 36″ apart. It’s important to keep the soil moist throughout the whole germination and seedling process. Squash requires at least 1″ of water each week, so it’s a good practice to use a mulch to help prevent the soil from drying out. The squash will be ready to harvest in approximately 100 days.
